We assess whether the learning strengthens research design, evidence use, data interpretation, drafting, editing or communication.
Pathway fit
Courses are placed in the pathway that best reflects their primary learning value, while related skills remain visible in the review.
Learning clarity
The title, intended audience, duration, level and outcomes must be sufficiently clear for a learner to make an informed choice.
Risk and limitations
We identify when a course is introductory, narrow in scope or insufficient on its own for assessed, commissioned or published work.
Source freshness
Course facts and links are periodically rechecked. Material changes trigger an editorial update and a new review date.
What the five scores mean
Subject relevance
How directly the course supports research, writing, editing, publishing or professional communication.
Research value
How strongly the subject supports credible questions, methods, evidence, data or interpretation.
Writing value
How strongly the course develops drafting, structure, style, editing or reader impact.
Practical value
Whether the described outcomes appear usable in a real study, proposal, report or communication task.
Accessibility
How approachable the published level, scope and learning outcomes appear for the stated audience.
Scores use a five-point editorial scale and are not Alison ratings, accreditation decisions, evidence grades or learner reviews.

Corrections
Correcting the record
Material factual errors are corrected promptly. Significant changes to a course assessment receive an updated review date and a short explanation where reader understanding could otherwise be affected.
